Michele Gribbins, Ed.D.

Dr. Michele Gribbins serves as Associate Provost for Institutional Research and Effectiveness at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS), where she works at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and organizational effectiveness. She leads institutional research, assessment, and accreditation efforts to support data-informed decision-making and strategic planning across the university. As UIS's Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Accreditation Liaison Officer, she coordinates accreditation planning and serves as the university's primary liaison to HLC. She also partners with university leadership on major strategic initiatives, including the academic portfolio review and institutional effectiveness planning.
Over more than two decades at UIS, Dr. Gribbins has served in faculty, staff, and administrative roles, providing a broad perspective on the academic enterprise. Prior to joining the Provost's Leadership Team, she served as Director of the Center for Online Learning, Research, and Service (COLRS), where she partnered with academic leaders to advance online education and student success. Her contributions to online learning were recognized through her selection as an Online Learning Consortium Fellow in 2024.
A published scholar and frequent presenter, Dr. Gribbins has authored research on online learning, emerging technologies, and academic integrity. Her work has appeared in the British Journal of Educational Technology, Online Learning Journal, Journal of Information Technology, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, Electronic Markets, and International Journal of Management Theory and Practices. She has co-authored two book chapters and delivered more than sixty presentations at international, national, and regional conferences. She currently serves on UPCEA's Policy Committee and previously served for six years as Treasurer of the Illinois Council on Continuing Higher Education, receiving the ICCHE Past Presidents' Award for Service.
Dr. Gribbins holds an Ed.D. from Indiana University Bloomington, an MBA from Eastern Illinois University, and a B.S. in Finance from Illinois State University.

Matthew Suda, Ph.D.

Dr. Matthew Suda directs and coordinates the OIRE’s institutional reporting responsibilities. These responsibilities include annual submissions to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), as well as the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE). Internally, Dr. Suda specializes in collecting and analyzing student and program-level data, and he maintains the Institutional Research Data Book. Both the Unit Cost Study and Resource Allocation and Management Program (RAMP) fall within his purview, as do ad hoc data requests from faculty and staff.
Dr. Suda’s efforts in the OIRE at UIS build on prior experiences in higher education in the Memphis metropolitan area, where he led the implementation of a Department of Labor grant at Arkansas State University Mid-South and data management and accreditation activities for Christian Brothers University. Most recently, he led enrollment management and institutional research at University of Arkansas-East Arkansas Community College.
In his role as Director of Institutional Research, he draws on his background in clinical health research, having completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the Center for Innovation in Health Equity Research (CIHER) at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. He earned a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Memphis, where his work led to publications in several academic journals.

Steven Feldman, Ph.D.

In their role as Associate Director of Assessment and Accreditation, Dr. Steven Feldman (he/they) advances UIS’s commitment to continuous improvement in student learning and institutional effectiveness. They lead campus-wide academic assessment and accreditation compliance efforts, while collaborating with faculty, staff, and leadership to ensure alignment with Higher Learning Commission (HLC) standards.
Prior to joining OIRE, Dr. Feldman worked as a Research Project Associate in the Center for Postsecondary Research at Indiana University Bloomington (IU). They worked closely with large-scale, multi-institutional survey projects including the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE), and College + University Teaching Environment (CUTE) survey. Before working at IU, Dr. Feldman worked as the Associate Director of the Center for Trans & Queer Advocacy at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. They also have experience working in LGBTQ services and academic advising at the University of Connecticut as well as undergraduate admissions at Stony Brook University.
Dr. Feldman actively engages in research on topics pertaining to identity, equity, and social justice in higher education, with a particular emphasis on transgender, queer, and Jewish communities. Their work has been published in The Journal of Higher Education, Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, Journal of College Student Development, Journal of College and Character, and Educational Review. Dr. Feldman has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and has contributed to over 30 presentations at national conferences.
Dr. Feldman holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education as well as Graduate Certificates in Institutional Research and College Pedagogy from Indiana University Bloomington, an M.A. in Higher Education & Student Affairs from the University of Connecticut, an M.A. in Music History & Theory from Stony Brook University, a B.A. in Music and Gender & Sexuality Studies.

Harsha Chamala
Information Technology Technical Associate (Data Analyst)

Harsha Chamala is an Information Technology Technical Associate (Data Analyst) at the University of Illinois Springfield. He brings extensive experience in data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence from his work across higher education and corporate organizations, including the University of Illinois Chicago, GardaWorld, Cisco, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
At UIC, Harsha played a key role in supporting the university’s $100M annual fundraising initiatives and multi-year $1B capital campaign. He partnered with senior leadership, prospect development analysts, and gift officers to deliver dashboards and reports that transformed complex data into actionable insights, helping guide strategic decisions and improve advancement outcomes. In his previous roles at GardaWorld, Cisco, and SIUE, he contributed to cross-functional projects, streamlined reporting processes, and supported organizational goals through clear and accessible analytics.
Harsha is passionate about using data to drive transparency, enhance operational efficiency, and support institutional decision-making. He collaborates closely with teams across advancement, finance, and academic operations to ensure reports and insights are meaningful, accurate, and actionable. His career reflects a commitment to improving processes and empowering stakeholders through high-quality data analysis.
He earned his master’s degree in computer management and information systems from Indiana Wesleyan University and his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from VRSEC in India. Committed to continuous learning and professional growth, Harsha leverages his experience to support institutional effectiveness and strategic initiatives at UIS.
