History Department Awards

Chapin Award for Student Research

The Department of History is pleased to offer Chapin Scholarships to assist qualified students conducting archival and other primary source research. The scholarships are designed to help meritorious graduate and undergraduate students in the History honors program with expenses such as travel, lodging, copying, archive and library fees, purchasing research materials, and other costs directly related to significant research based on primary source materials.

The Chapin Award committee invites applications and nominations for this year’s Chapin History Award. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.

Recipients will be notified soon after review of all application materials. As a condition of acceptance, recipients of the award will present findings from their research at a departmental awards reception the following spring. The awards are made possible by a generous growing endowment from Nancy Lanphier and Charles Armstrong Chapin.
