The Illinois Innocence Project, based at University of Illinois Springfield, recognized International Wrongful Conviction Day Thursday with a display of 3,728 flags on the quad in front of the Student Union.

With finals already underway and the days getting shorter, it’s completely normal to feel worn down. You’ve pushed hard all semester, and the finish line is finally in sight. As you wrap up your last exams and projects, now is a great time to pause for a quick mental health check-in. Taking a moment to evaluate how you’re feeling can help you finish strong and recover well once break begins.

The University of Illinois Springfield has again been ranked the top public regional university in Illinois by U.S. News and World Report.

This is the seventh year UIS has gained that designation in the 2026 Best Colleges rankings. UIS also was 10th among public regional universities in the Midwest.

The University of Illinois Springfield broke ground Friday on the latest addition to the campus.

The Library Commons is a publicly funded project made possible by a $42.5 million investment from the State of Illinois. The three-story, 52,000-square-foot building will be located between the Student Union and the Health Sciences Building on the UIS quad.
