Isaac Farhadian honored with the 2024 UIS Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award

Isaac Farhadian, a 2024 University of Illinois Springfield master’s in political science graduate, was honored on April 11, 2025, with the Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award for the 2023-2024 academic year.

His thesis, advised by Professor Matthew Geras, analyzes the major determinants of support for capital sentencing among high school seniors. Examining the perspectives of high school seniors on controversial issues holds significance, as they represent the future electorate.

UIS Baseball Adjusts Rockhurst Series Schedule

The UIS baseball team has adjusted its upcoming home series against Rockhurst. Originally scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, the series will now feature 12:00 p.m. doubleheaders on Thursday and Friday at the UIS Baseball Field. At the conclusion of Friday's second game, UIS will honor its senior student-athletes in a special postgame ceremony. Fans are encouraged to attend and celebrate the accomplishments of the senior class.

Women’s Track Opens Bryan Clay Invitational with Personal Bests in 10,000 Meters

Jordan Serrahn and Kaleigh Inniss opened competition for the UIS women's track and field team at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Cal., on Wednesday. The two distance runners competed in the first heat of the 10,000 meters during the morning session. Inniss placed 14th with a time of 36:51.01, followed by Serrahn in 37:16.48. Both marks are season bests for the runners.

UIS Baseball Hosts Rockhurst in Final Home Series

The UIS baseball team will host Rockhurst in its final home series of the regular season this week, with an adjusted schedule due to forecasted weather. The Prairie Stars and Hawks will now play doubleheaders at 12:00 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday at the UIS Baseball Field. Senior Day recognition will take place following the conclusion of Friday's second game. Illinois Springfield (24-11, 14-5 GLVC)
