First Aid, CPR/AED & BLS Certification

Heartsaver CPR/AED & First Aid Training

Campus Recreation currently offers American Heart Association Heartsaver Adult CPR/AED and First Aid certification classes. These courses are designed for individuals with little or no medical training and provide essential lifesaving skills in an in-person classroom setting (both educational content and hands-on skills are completed during the same session).

  • Cost: $25 per person
  • Instructor: Jordan Killen
  • Contact: jkill7@uis.edu

Important: The Heartsaver course is intended for general knowledge and basic emergency response. Some academic programs, healthcare roles, or employment positions may require Basic Life Support (BLS) certification instead.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

BLS courses, offered through UIS Athletics, provide more advanced, in-depth training intended for healthcare providers and individuals in clinical or professional care settings. These courses include additional material and higher-level skill requirements.

  • Cost: $62 per person
  • Instructor: Chris Camburn
  • Contact: ccamb2@uis.edu

If your program or employer requires BLS certification, you must enroll in a BLS course. The Heartsaver course will not meet those requirements.
