Through guidance on curriculum, emerging HR trends, internships, career opportunities, and employer expectations, the board helps ensure that our students gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed in the evolving world of human resources.

Joshua Frye
Director of People Operations, O’Shea Builders

Joshua Frye is the Director of People Operations at O’Shea Builders. At O’Shea, People Operations is a strategic business function that focuses on the logistics of employment while respecting the nature of people and continuously improving employee engagement, development, and retention to drive growth. Some of Josh’s favorite projects have involved change management, employee engagement, team building, and process improvement. His greatest satisfaction comes from helping people and their teams reach new heights. Josh holds a Master of Science degree in Management and Organizational Behavior from Benedictine University and completed his undergraduate studies in Clinical Psychology and Counseling at the University of Illinois at Springfield. He holds an SPHR certification as well as being a Certified Technical Trainer, an ATD certified trainer, and a Scrum Master.
Angela Nguyen

Angela is Interim Chief Human Resources Officer and Vice President, Talent and Culture at Memorial Health, where she leads a broad portfolio spanning talent management, talent acquisition, HR business partnership, colleague engagement, recognition and workforce analytics. Her appointment marks a return to Memorial Health, where she began her career in compensation, employee relations and HR generalist roles.
With more than 25 years of HR and talent leadership experience in healthcare and financial services, Angela most recently served as Vice President, Talent and Culture at Horace Mann. Before that, she spent more than a decade at Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS), rising to System Vice President, Talent Management and Colleague Relations and serving on the System Leadership Team. She is known for building people strategies that connect talent, culture and business results.
Angela is President of the Central Illinois Chapter of SHRM, where she helps advance the HR profession across the region. She holds a Master of Science in Counselor Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Outside of work, Angela loves spending time with her family, staying active with Pilates, and catching up on her favorite reality TV shows.


Brooke Valenti-Jouett

Brooke Valenti-Jouett, SHRM-SCP, serves as the Director of Human Resources at KEB, a public accounting firm serving clients across Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin. She has been with the firm since October 2016. Brooke helps lead strategic HR initiatives across KEB’s offices while supporting recruitment, retention, employee benefits, talent development, and employee relations. She is passionate about developing people, strengthening workplace culture, and helping students and professionals build meaningful, successful careers.
Tami Ireland
System Director of Colleague Relations, Health Compliance at Memorial Health.

Tami Ireland, MA, SHRM-SCP, is the System Director of Colleague Relations, Health, Compliance at Memorial Health. She leads the enterprise labor and colleague relations strategy, colleague health and well-being strategy and HR compliance initiatives across the health system. With more than 30 years of healthcare HR leadership experience, Tami is recognized for building leader capability, strengthening workplace culture, reducing organizational risk, and improving HR operations through standardized, people-centered solutions.
Throughout her career, she has led transformational initiatives including hospital startup operations, acquisitions and integrations, workforce inclusion programs, and employee experience strategies. Tami holds a Master of Arts in Human Services Administration from the University of Illinois Springfield and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Illinois State University. She currently serves as Past President of the Central Illinois SHRM Chapter and is a board member of Community Child Care Connections.


Susan McCord O'Malley

Susan O’Malley is a seasoned human resources executive with more than 30 years of experience in human resources leadership, employee development, labor relations, organizational strategy, and workforce management. She currently serves as Senior Vice President, Director of Human Resources and Professional Development at Bank of Springfield, a position she has held since 2013.
In her role at Bank of Springfield, Susan provides strategic leadership across a broad range of human resources functions, including workforce planning, compensation and benefits, performance management, professional development, employee relations, recruitment, training, and regulatory compliance. She works closely with bank leadership and managers to develop effective staffing strategies, strengthen employee performance, support organizational growth, and promote a positive and productive workplace culture.
Prior to joining Bank of Springfield, Susan served for nearly nine years as Vice President and Director of Human Resources at Illinois National Bank. During her tenure, she provided HR leadership and consultation to management while overseeing recruitment, employee development, compensation, benefits, performance management, training, employee relations, and compliance initiatives.
Earlier in her career, Susan held progressively responsible human resources and personnel leadership positions with the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Her public-sector experience included labor relations, collective bargaining, employee and labor grievances, EEO and Human Rights matters, organizational restructuring, policy development, workforce planning, and administration of large-scale personnel programs.
Throughout her career, Susan has developed extensive experience helping organizations navigate complex employee relations matters, organizational change, leadership development, staffing challenges, and employment-related compliance requirements. Her combination of public-sector and financial-services experience provides a broad perspective on workforce strategy and organizational effectiveness.
Susan holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Arts equivalent in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Illinois State University. She is a national member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and a member of the Central Illinois Chapter of SHRM (CIC-SHRM).

Brittany Clark serves as the Statewide Recruitment Manager for the Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS), where she leads statewide recruitment, career counseling, and workforce planning efforts connecting job seekers with careers in public service. Her work and leadership in state government earned her national recognition as a 2025 NASCA 20 Under 40 Award recipient. She also currently serves on the Land of Lincoln Workforce Investment Board. With more than 16 years of experience in business development, talent acquisition, and workforce development, Brittany is passionate about creating innovative partnerships and meeting talent where they are.
