These traditions connect current students with their peers and create memories that last long after graduation. Yurevich Earns GLVC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Illinois Springfield goalkeeper Gigi Yurevich has been named the GLVC Defensive Player of the Week in women's soccer after recording back-to-back shutouts in a perfect weekend for the Prairie Stars.
Yurevich played all 180 minutes as UIS earned a pair of road wins, defeating Lincoln (Mo.) 2-0 on Friday and Missouri-St. Louis 1-0 on Sunday. The Junior from Springfield, Ill., posted eight total saves across the two matches, including six in the win over UMSL, to help the Prairie Stars build their unbeaten streak.

Calleigh Hurst awarded a $24,000 scholarship to attend the University of Illinois Springfield

Calleigh Hurst of Springfield has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for the fall 2026 semester and awarded a $24,000 Star Scholar Award for tuition over four years. At UIS, she will major in criminology and criminal justice. The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed if the student maintains college GPA requirements. In high school, Hurst was involved in craft club. “I love the small campus and personalized learning at UIS,” Hurst said. |
UIS Men’s Soccer Falls 2-0 at UMSL

The Illinois Springfield men's soccer team created several quality scoring chances but came up empty in a 2-0 road loss to Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday afternoon. The Prairie Stars move to 2-7-3 overall and 1-6-2 in the GLVC, while the Tritons improve to 3-3-5 and 2-2-4 in conference play.
