Cardinals Caravan Coming to UIS on January 17th

The St. Louis Cardinals Caravan is making a stop at the University of Illinois Springfield this winter, adding even more excitement to a busy day on campus. Caravan #3 will visit The Recreation and Athletic Center (TRAC) at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, the same afternoon UIS hosts a basketball doubleheader against Southwest Baptist, with games tipping off at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Women’s Basketball Looks Ahead to Home Games Against McKendree and Maryville This Week

The UIS women's basketball team opened the week with an impressive 75-49 win against William Jewell on Monday night and now turns its attention to two challenging GLVC matchups: a Youth Sports Day game versus McKendree on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and the Blue Out against Maryville on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the TRAC.

The Illinois Springfield men's basketball team opened its week at home Monday with a thrilling 61-60 win over William Jewell. The Prairie Stars will remain at the TRAC for two more conference games this week, facing McKendree Thursday at 7:30 PM for Hy-Vee Youth Sports Day and Maryville Saturday at 3:00 PM for a Blue Out. |
UIS Athletics to Add Flag Football as 18th Varsity Sport

The University of Illinois Springfield is expanding its athletics program by adding women's flag football as the school's 18th varsity sport. UIS is the second NCAA Division II program in Illinois to announce plans to sponsor the sport. The program is slated to begin recruiting student-athletes for the fall of 2026 ahead of an inaugural spring 2027 season.
