Kyle Blount, an assistant professor of ecohydrology in the Environmental Studies Program at UIS, co-authored two research articles to help cities with the growing demands of urbanization.

UIS to offer women's flag football in 2027

The University of Illinois Springfield has announced a new addition to its sports team. The school will launch a women's flag football program starting play in the spring of 2027. It's the 18th varsity sport for the Division II school.

UIS professor helps osprey bird population growth in Illinois

A professor from the University of Illinois Springfield has played a key role in helping to increase the osprey bird population across the state.
UIS Associate Professional Tih-Fen Ting, director of the School of Integrated Sciences, Sustainability and Public Health, and others began their work on this cause in 2013. Since then, Illinois’ osprey bird population has grown from 16 known breeding pairs to 90 pairs in 2023.

On Monday, Nov. 17, the University of Illinois Springfield welcomed the nationally recognized Send Silence Packing exhibit, a powerful visual display aimed at raising awareness about suicide prevention and mental health support.
The event took place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Student Leadership Center inside the UIS Student Union, located at 2251 Richard Wright Drive.
