As part of UIS Athletics' 15 Years of NCAA Division II Membership celebration, the department is highlighting 15 standout teams and 15 standout student-athletes who have shaped the program's Division II era. Each week, UIS will feature one team and one player, honoring the accomplishments, championship moments, and legacy-building performances that have defined Prairie Stars Athletics.

The UIS women's soccer team, led by head coach Scott Myers and assistant coach Hailey Parungao, welcomed nine high school seniors in the class of 2026 into the program on National Signing Day. Joining the Prairie Stars are Macey Young, Alaina Stock, Raelyn Brammer, Elyse Severson, Aubrey Quigley, Brooklyn Termine, Bridget Lyons, Aubry Thomas and McKenzie Coleman.  Coach Myers shared his perspective on the 2026 signing class, offering insight into each student-athlete and how they fit into the future of the UIS women's soccer program.

The Illinois Springfield softball program has officially announced its 2026 spring schedule, featuring early-season games in Springfield at Scheels Sports Park and a full slate of Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play at the UIS Softball Complex.

The Illinois Springfield men's basketball team returns to action Wednesday evening in Owensboro, Kentucky, with a non-conference matchup against Kentucky Wesleyan. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. CT and opens a three-game stretch of December non-conference play for the Prairie Stars. Illinois Springfield (7-2, 4-0 GLVC) UIS enters the contest riding a four-game winning streak to open Great Lakes Valley Conference play. Key league victories include an 86-76 road win at Missouri-St. Louis and a 63-58 home victory over McKendree.
