Environmental Health, MPH

The MPH-Environmental Health (EH) degree provided by the public health program offers cross-disciplinary education opportunities and intentional integration of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and associated practices. The MPH-EH program is a STEM-Designated degree and accredited curriculum through the National Environmental Health, Science and Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC).

Environmental Health Graduate Certificate

This program is not currently accepting students.

This graduate certificate is designed to provide opportunities for continuing education for health professionals without formal public health training, for those interested in life-long learning and for mid-career professionals. Certificate course work may be taken either as a non-degree seeking student or in conjunction with other graduate work.

Entrepreneurship, Graduate Certificate

The purpose of this certificate is to provide students, small business owners and managers of organizations with knowledge about starting up new businesses and the creation and discovery of opportunities. Students will study the field of entrepreneurship, small business management, issues related to family businesses and the financing needs of entrepreneurs. English Minor

The English minor is a marketable asset to students in any other field of study.

In only 12 credit hours.(four 3-credit courses), students get a strong and well-rounded introduction to research methods and close reading, writing or linguistics, literary study and an elective in their area of interest. We offer an appealing variety of courses such as Children’s and Young Adult Literature; Graphic Novel; Creative Writing, Publishing and Community; or Writing in New Media.

English, BA

The department offers courses that can help students prepare for teaching careers, for jobs as editors and writers, or for graduate work at the master’s or doctoral level. UIS students can enroll as English majors or minors by taking course work in a physical classroom or online.

Elementary Education, BA

The School of Education at UIS offers a major in education that leads to licensure at the elementary level when combined with an appropriate academic major, fulfillment of general education requirements and fulfillment of campus requirements. Candidates seeking the elementary baccalaureate degree and concurrent academic content major should expect that their total program of study can usually be completed within the four-year time frame but may exceed the minimum number of hours required for graduation. The Initial Program Advisor can recommend appropriate majors.

Educational Studies, BA

The Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies degree (BAES) program pairs an interdisciplinary foundation of general education courses with an educational studies core that explores learning theory, educational psychology, child development, educating special populations, inclusive learning, curriculum design, designing online learning environments and best practices in education.
