Keyword Research

• Research and select relevant keywords that your target audience is likely to search for. Think how your typical audience would think if they were looking for information. Use common language!
• Use tools like Google Keyword Planner to identify high-traffic and low-competition keywords.
• Use bold and italics to emphasize page keywords and to make the page easier to scan and be more readable.

What is generative AI?

Generative AI (gen AI) is a kind of artificial intelligence "that can create original content such as text, images, video, audio or software code in response to a user's prompt or request (Stryker & Scapicchio). While gen AI is not new, the way the average user could access these kinds of tools changed wildly with the broad release of ChatGPT in 2022.

The UIS Syllabus and Assignment Icons, adapted from the Oregon State project, represent some approaches to generative AI use for course policies and assignments. Syllabus statements are also a great way to frame the conversation about generative AI with your students. As instructors, it is important to provide guidance on acceptable generative AI usage from the start of a course. Instructors are encourages to modify and adapt the descriptions to fit courses and assignments.

Adobe Photoshop features Generative Fill capability, that allows users to prompt Photoshop to create or update an image with GenAI. Photoshop uses the Adobe Firefly Image Model to create richer, more lifelike images, that help to bring life into your photographs.

When using different GenAI models, you may encounter biases stemming from unequal representation in the training data. This can manifest as gender biases and a lack of diversity in the subjects depicted in the generated images.

Some examples of bias found when using GenAI image models:

The prompt asks for a summary of key discoveries made by a specific scientific instrument (the Hubble Space Telescope) and requests citations from reliable sources. This approach helps to determine the source of the information provided and allows users to check for accuracy.
