Employee Development Series
September: Corrective Action & Discipline
The September Employee Development Series presentation on Corrective Action and Discipline has been cancelled. Recognizing that this topic is particularly relevant to those in supervisory roles, presenters Drew Schlosser and Mark Owens will deliver the session during Supervisor Development Day in October. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to offering this targeted development opportunity.
October: Supervisor Development Day
Mark your calendar for the Supervisor Development Day on October 20, 2026, in the Student Union Ballroom. This will be an in-person event exclusively for supervisors. More information will be released in next month’s newsletter with the topics and speaker lineup. Information from the past Supervisor Development Day presentations can be found on the HR Training Events website.
November: Safety Awareness and Emergency Preparedness
The November Employee Development Series will be about Safety Awareness and Emergency Preparedness. Presented by The Director of Safety and Environmental Compliance, Ravneet Chhokar will discuss emergency evacuation protocols, fire prevention, slips/trips/falls prevention, and ergonomics. Please join us for this interactive session on November 17, 2026, in the Student Union Ballroom from 9:00-11:00am.
Additional Information
HR Staff Update
Human Resources has recently experienced staffing changes. Response and processing times may be longer than usual due to reduced staffing and increased campus activity. HR is actively redistributing responsibilities among current team members to ensure continued support for the campus community. Our Staff webpage has been updated to reflect the current staff roles and responsibilities. If you are unsure who to contact, please email uishr@uis.edu, and we will happily assist!
Salary Program Update
We would like to remind all eligible employees that the 2026 – 2027 Merit-Based Salary Program 2% increase went into effect in mid-August.
- For eligible monthly employees, the increase was effective August 16, 2026, and will be reflected in the September 16, 2026 paycheck.
- For eligible biweekly employees, the increase was effective August 16, 2026, and will appear in the September 9, 2026 paycheck.
If you have questions regarding your eligibility or have concerns about the salary program increase, please reach out to your HR division liaison for assistance. Thank you for your continued contributions to our campus community.
New Login Links for Cornerstone and JDXpert
We have updated the login URLs for Cornerstone and JDXpert. We recommend updating any bookmarks you have saved since the old links will no longer work. Our webpages will be updated with the new links, but the links in older documents, emails, or saved materials may not work. Please contact HR with questions or if you have trouble logging in.
Remote Work Agreement
We wanted to give a friendly reminder that Remote Work Agreements are good for up to one (1) year. Remote work can be a viable option for employees in jobs that are suited for such an arrangement. Civil Service and Academic Professional employees working a remote work schedule must keep a current Remote Work Agreement on file with HR. Please use the electronic Remote Work Agreement form to submit your request. You can review the UIS Remote Work Policy for more information, or contact Kenzie Filchak at mwest22@uis.edu if you are unsure if you have a current agreement on file.
Employee and Student of Concern Forms
The University encourages employees to report concerning, threatening, or worrisome behavior involving a student or employee when there are concerns about an individual's well-being, safety, or behavior. By reporting concerns, members of the campus community play an important role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and caring environment for all. For concerns involving students, employees are encouraged to review the Student of Concern Reference Guide, which provides information about available campus resources. Reporting forms should be used for non-emergency situations only. If there is an immediate risk to life, safety, or property, contact UIS Campus Police at 217-206-7777.
Employee Tuition Waiver
Eligible University employees may receive a tuition waiver to help pursue educational opportunities at UIS and other Universities. Tuition waivers apply to qualifying employees, with eligibility and credit hour limits varying based on appointment type and percentage of employment. In most cases, eligible employee tuition waivers are applied automatically, making it easier for employees to take advantage of this benefit! For more information on eligibility requirements, covered expenses, and the process, please visit the System Human Resources website or contact Paige Lavin at pstuc2@uis.edu.
