Biography
Dr. Michele Gribbins serves as the Associate Provost for Institutional Research and Effectiveness at the University of Illinois Springfield. In this role, she leads efforts to foster a data-informed culture of collaboration and continuous improvement across the institution. Her responsibilities include oversight of institutional research, assessment, and effectiveness initiatives, as well as enhancing data access, visualization, and literacy. Dr. Gribbins also manages institutional accreditation activities with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), serving as the university’s liaison to HLC and other external bodies. She supports strategic planning and decision-making processes, including the implementation of academic portfolio reviews.
With more than 28 years of experience in academic affairs, Dr. Gribbins has held leadership roles in teaching, research, professional development, online pedagogy, and administration. She currently serves on the UPCEA Board Finance Committee and the National Commission on Innovation and Competitive Frontiers’ working group on disruptive technologies. Her previous leadership includes roles in the UPCEA Online Administration Network, UPCEA Central Region, and the Illinois Council on Continuing Higher Education. A frequent presenter and published scholar, Dr. Gribbins has contributed to journals such as the British Journal of Educational Technology, Online Learning Journal, and the Journal of Information Technology. In recognition of her contributions to online learning, she was named an Online Learning Consortium Fellow in 2024.
Dr. Gribbins earned a B.S. in Finance from Illinois State University, an M.B.A. from Eastern Illinois University, and an Ed.D. in Education from Indiana University Bloomington.
