The newest program to debut at the Performing Arts Center at UIS is the opposite of what they usually do. And that’s a good thing. “We usually buy a show and get the venue ready for that show,” said Carly Shank, artistic programs director for the Performing Arts Center. “Now, we are more involved in the creation of something. We are laying down the foundation for something special.” |

I was honored to be invited to speak earlier this month at UIS' Lunch & Learn Series presented by the UIS Alumni SAGE Society and the Illinois State Historical Society. And I was especially glad that we were able to hold the event in person, at Illini Country Club. It was the first time UIS did a live L&L since before the pandemic started. |

Illinois State University professor named director of UIS School of Education

An Illinois State University professor will be the director of the University of Illinois Springfield School of Education starting this summer. UIS announced Tuesday that Beth Hatt, a professor of educational administration and foundations at Illinois State, would start as director on June 16. She has spent the past 10 years with the ISU College of Education and holds a doctorate in culture, curriculum and change from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. |
