Our mission is to develop robust community outreach programs and research agendas that are integrated with classroom practice, the explicit goal of which is to mitigate social injustice.

We support and promote events, programming, and scholarship that recognizes and values human diversity— both on and off campus. We seek to be good collaborators in out community, building bridges through careful listening. And we celebrate scholarship that facilitates engagement with difficult histories and does the hard work of increasing social justice.

We also aim to enhance teaching and pedagogical practices at UIS and beyond that advance equity, respect, and understanding across human experience.

To that end, we house three undergraduate academic programs:
