What Is MPART?

The Medicaid Policy and Applied Research Team (MPART) is a structured, student-powered research initiative housed at the University of Illinois Springfield. MPART functions as an applied policy lab that produces high-quality, data-driven research to inform Medicaid policy and operational decision-making.

MPART brings together graduate students in a supervised, production-oriented environment where they are trained to collect, validate, and analyze publicly available Medicaid data. Through standardized research methods and repeatable workflows, the team develops national and state-level insights that contribute to broader Medicaid policy understanding.

Student Opportunities

MPART offers paid research positions for UIS graduate and undergraduate students. Students work alongside faculty on real Medicaid policy problems, building skills in data collection, policy analysis, and research methodology. View current openings on UIS Handshake. Handshake is the official UIS student employment platform.
