UIS employees showed their generosity and spirit during our SECA Bingo event on Wednesday, Oct. 22, raising $1,116 for Compass for Kids—a record-breaking total and $343 more than last year’s contribution.
Compass for Kids, founded by UIS alumna Molly Berendt Grogan, provides after-school and summer programs that empower children from under-resourced communities in the Springfield area.
This year’s success represents the largest charitable donation ever generated from SECA Bingo at UIS, demonstrating the campus community’s ongoing commitment to giving back and strengthening local partnerships.
The 2025 SECA Campaign kicked off on September 17 and concludes on November 12. Now is the time where you can donate to a charity of your choice through payroll deduction or a one-time gift. Another way to support this year’s campaign is by taking part in the SECA Silent Auction, happening Nov. 3–7, where you can purchase a basket for a cause and help raise additional funds for local charities.
