Learning modalities at UIS are on a continuum ranging from fully on campus courses to full online courses. Officially, UIS course session types (teaching modalities) fall into four modalities -- On Campus, Online, Blended, and HyFlex. In teaching practices, though, synchronous online learning must be considered as a separate modality with its own pedagogical implications. All courses, no matter the modality, have a Canvas course for instructors to communicate and engage their students.
