Lot D Has Been Upgraded — Here's What's New
Parking Operations has completed more than $1 million in improvements to Parking Lot D, which is now available for parking. Improvements include a new surface, a new layout for improved traffic flow, and new LED lighting fixtures.
These upgrades bring Lot D up to the same standard as our other premium campus lots.
Effective Aug. 1, Lot D will be classified as a Standard permit lot.
Parking permit sales for the upcoming academic year open Aug. 4, and rates will be published on the Parking Operations website.
When evaluating your options, we encourage you to check the UIS campus map to see which parking lot works best for your regular destination before choosing a permit type.
Temporary Closures: Motorcycle Rider Program
Separately from the upgrades above, Lot D will host Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Motorcycle Rider Program on select weekends July 17 through Oct. 25. This partnership supports motorcycle safety training and community education. You may have already noticed new pavement markings in the lot related to this program.
During training sessions, Lot D will be unavailable for general parking at the following days and times:
- Fridays, 6-10 p.m.
- Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sundays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
