We offer a B.A. degree program in Philosophy both online and on ground. A B.A. in Philosophy is valuable for many positions in business, government and education. Philosophy is also an excellent pre-law degree. Many Philosophy students continue their education to pursue Master’s degrees and Ph.D. programs at other accredited institutions.
Learning Outcomes
- Clarity: Students will learn to articulate a position, formulate an argument and describe the views of other philosophers with a high degree of clarity and precision.
- Argumentation: Students will learn to make well-articulated, cogent, reasoned and sustained arguments in defense of a philosophical thesis.
- Reading: Students will learn to read with comprehension and to critically assess the works of other philosophers.
- Dialog: Students will learn to engage each other and their instructors, in meaningful philosophical dialog.
- Competence: Students will develop competent knowledge in their field of specialization within the major.
- Knowledge: Students will acquire adequate knowledge in the areas of History of Philosophy, Value Theory and Core Analytic Philosophy.

Send your official transcripts

Submit required statements/writing sample
If you are a first-year student, a statement of 250-650 words is required for admission. We want to hear about your professional aspirations, intellectual interests, and personal experiences relevant to your choice of a specific academic program. You can upload the required documents on your application status page.
Pay your application fee
You can submit your non-refundable application fee online, after completing the online application. Alternately, it can also be mailed to the university, payable to University of Illinois Springfield.
