The University of Illinois Springfield has a Commencement Ceremony (grad walk), which is held every year in May. This ceremony is for all students that have graduated in the previous summer or fall semester, or will potentially graduate in the current spring semester. You can only join the ceremony one time, and only in the year you are eligible. Please visit the UIS Graduation website for more information. Make sure you arrive early on the day of the ceremony.
Inviting Family from Outside the United States
If you want to invite family members from another country and they need an invitation letter for a visa, you can write a letter to them. In the letter, include:
- The date of the graduation ceremony
- The degree and major you will receive
- Your family member’s: full name, citizenship, date of birth, and relationship to you
Official Letter from UIS
If your family needs an official letter from the university, the Registrar will automatically send one to your UIS email in early March.
Important: you must apply for graduation online by the deadline. If you do not apply, your name will not be on the eligible graduates list. If you do not receive a letter, it means you are not on the list of eligible graduating students.
