The UIS men's track and field team is set to compete at the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Championships this week. The event, hosted by Lewis this year, will take place Thursday through Saturday, May 1–3, in Romeoville, Ill.
Entries
The Prairie Stars will be well represented in distance and middle-distance events across all three days of competition.
Action begins Thursday with the 1,500-meter preliminaries, where Aidan Donohue, Gabe Martinez, and Isaac Cortes are entered. Martinez was an All-GLVC performer in the mile during the indoor season, while Cortes earned indoor silver in the 5,000 meters and finished fourth in the 3,000 meters.
Thursday will also feature the 10,000-meter final, with a large group of UIS athletes entered to compete. That group includes Lucas Baronello, Brendan Cairney, Daniel Giacomini, Joey Karlesky, Ryan Kries, Brock Loftus, Matt Padilla, Charlie Serrahn and Noah Tegeler. Several are expected to double back for the 5,000-meter final on Saturday.
On Friday, Donohue will compete in the 800-meter preliminaries. Ryan Jones, last year's runner-up, is slated to race in the final of the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
The meet concludes Saturday with a full slate of distance finals. UIS will look to advance athletes to the 800 and 1,500-meter finals and contend for top spots in all three long-distance events. Cortes, Karlesky, Loftus, Padilla, and Tegeler are all set to compete in the 5,000-meter final.
