About the Event:

Cyber Defense and Disaster Recovery (CDDR) is an annual conference organized by the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) since 2006. The theme of the 14th CDDR conference is about cyber threat hunting and incident response.

Currently, we are seeing a surge in the number of cyberattacks putting companies and organizations at risk. These attacks include ransomware, cryptominers, and banking trojans, to name a few. The conventional defensive countermeasures, such as endpoint security and IDS products, are not capable of fully mitigating some of these attacks. We need to devise new defensive strategies to capture attacks currently occurring under the wire. Despite utilizing defensive approaches to mitigate cybersecurity attacks, some will be undetected and can cause a catastrophic outcome for the company. Companies need to be prepared and be capable of handling or containing cyberattacks in a costly manner. In this conference, our invited speakers will offer their perspectives on these subjects.
