Meeting Notes

The second Web Advisory Council meeting covered active web projects including an AI chatbot, archive site, and program page enhancements. Three homepage redesign concepts were presented by Lina for council feedback. A new campus communications triage form is launching imminently to replace the deprecated campus announcements system.

  • Archive site will run concurrently with the main site for several months before content is removed from the main site. Any department articles that are 4 years or older will be migrated to the archive site. Events will be migrated once they are 1 year old.
  • Website redesign - Three homepage redesign concepts were developed based on surveys, heat maps, user recordings, card sorting, and navigation tree testing.
  • Mobile mockups will follow only after a final design is chosen.
  • Light and dark versions of the new website will be developed, reflecting current UX/UI trends.
  • Website redesign target launch: Fall, potentially aligned with an upcoming brand release.
  • 360 tours for Career Development Center and Student Union nearly complete; target upload: early July. Email Kim to get on the schedule for your departments 360 shoot.
  • Website training during summer is once monthly; one-on-one sessions available on request.
  • GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) audit completed for CLASS.
  • New campus communications triage form launching this week/next week — guides submitters to the correct channel (event, news article, Canvas, push notification, etc.).
  • FAQ development is a top priority; FAQs improve search visibility, feed the AI chatbot, and help UIS appear in AI-generated search results.
  • Faculty/student research submission form now live on the website to improve search visibility and build subject-matter expert profiles.
