MPART is a student-powered Medicaid policy lab that produces standardized, high-quality applied Medicaid policy research that supports real-world decision-making while developing future policy leaders. MPART conducts applied research at the intersection of health policy and emerging technology, producing credible, actionable intelligence for policymakers, state agencies, and their partners.
What We Focus On
- Applied Research — usable outputs that inform real policy decisions
- Data Integrity — consistent, standardized data across all projects
- Workforce Development — preparing students for careers in health policy and public service
- Collaborative Publishing — partnerships with policy fellows and external stakeholders
How We Work
MPART operates through a standardized research production model designed to ensure consistency, accuracy, and repeatability across all outputs. Work is structured into distinct phases — topic, design, collect, validate, curate — with clear ownership at each stage. All outputs undergo structured review including data validation and final review by senior research staff prior to publication.
Institutional Home
MPART is a unit of the University of Illinois Springfield. We are located in downtown Springfield at the Horace Mann Building.
