books that were submitted in the past month.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling (Category: Young Adult)

book cover for harry potter and the half-blood prince showing harry and a wizard gazing into a glowing bowl.

Best book of the series! Well established tone and adds a ton of character development for some of my favorites.

The Women by Kristin Hanna (Category: Historical Fiction)

book cover for the women by hannah kristin showing a palm tree landscape with a low flying military helicopter hovering over it.

This was an excellent book about a woman that joins the Army as
a nurse and is deployed to Vietnam. It gives a great view into the
women that served in Vietnam and what they went through both
there and when they returned back home.

Cassius Marcellus Clay by Anne Marshall (Category: Based on
Your Field of Study/Job)

book cover for cassius marcellus clay displays a picture of the man himself.

Clay was arrogant, loud, and irritating yet dedicated decades of
his life to politics, antislavery causes, and the preservation of the
Union. Anne Marshall's book is filled with funny stories,
prominent historical crossovers, and a wonderful analysis of
Clay's complex relationship to slaveholding.

The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (Category:
Young Adult)

book cover for the inheritance games showing collage of images including a chess king, candle, dagger, and a tiara.

A very easy read that was pretty fun, all things considered! A
quintessential YA-type story with that very YA-esque love
triangle, so if that's not your thing, I'd avoid this entirely. But if
you want something a little silly and engaging, this might be it!

Spent by Alison Bechdel (Category: Graphic Novel)

book cover for a graphic novel spent, featuring a male/female couple in farm attire with the male holding a pitchfork.

I love Bechdel's graphic novels - especially her graphic memoirs.
Spent was beautifully drawn and funny - a perfect combination
that made me love this book!
