Jacob Gulso

Digital Accessibility Specialist

What do you enjoy about your job?

I enjoy teaching about how to create digitally accessible content because of the direct impact of the work. Providing accessible content creates equity in the classroom, fosters learning opportunities and enhances the overall user experience.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy construction projects and woodworking. I have assisted my dad with rewiring and replumbing his entire house. During my college years, I volunteered for Habitat for Humanity with the Eastern Illinois Chapter. Our group removed shingles from a 3-story roof in Indiana (it was a lot of fun).

Where have you visited?

I had the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C. when I lived in Baltimore, MD. The Lincoln Monument and the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum were remarkable to experience in person.

What values are most important to you?

Respect and hard work define who I am. I deeply value my family, friends and colleagues, and strive to treat everyone with respect. From a young age, I gained experience helping family, friends and neighbors with home improvement and organization projects. In high school, I balanced a customer service job, played football and spent summers baling hay. These experiences taught me to take pride in my work and to truly appreciate the rewards that come from dedication and effort.
