Tell us about your personal and professional journey.
During my time at UIS and as a member of the women’s golf program, I witnessed firsthand the impact that coaching, culture building, and developing student-athletes into lifelong leaders had while learning under Coach Nichole Inkel. It was through her mentorship and guidance that led me into beginning my professional career in the golf industry and college athletics by having the privilege of serving as the head men’s and women’s golf coach at Illinois College.
At Illinois College, I had the opportunity to truly grow as a professional by embracing the power of lifelong learning. I was surrounded by amazing individuals to learn from as a first-time head coach still looking to develop my coaching philosophy. I developed a deep appreciation for developing the student first and foremost through the vessel of golf.
Then, I realized my impact could extend beyond one program by supporting coaches and student-athletes at a broader level, which is when I transitioned into an athletic administration role at Illinois College. Transitioning into athletic administration allowed me the honor and privilege to serve the entire athletic department by instilling that same learning mindset and developing deeper level relationships across the campus.
The relationships I built as a coach continue to shape my leadership approach. Whether supporting a single team, an entire department, or the greater campus, my focus remains the same: creating environments where student-athletes thrive, coaches feel supported, and programs operate with integrity and purpose.
Who or what has played a significant role in influencing or mentoring you?
I attribute much of my growth to the strong leaders who have invested in me over the years. Their mentorship, trust, and high expectations challenged me to think bigger, lead with intention, and remain grounded in values that prioritize people and purpose. Their example—how they treat people, navigate challenges, and lead with purpose—has deeply influenced my own leadership philosophy and commitment to serving others.
What accomplishments or contributions are you most proud of—professionally or personally?
When I reflect on the accomplishments I am most proud of, I think less about specific milestones and more about the people I have had the privilege to work alongside throughout my career. The most meaningful contributions to me are the positive impacts I have been able to make on the experiences of students and colleagues at Illinois College. Whether supporting student success, mentoring team members, or collaborating across campus, I take the greatest pride in knowing I have helped create an environment where others could grow, succeed, and feel supported.
What advice would you share with other emerging professionals who want to make an impact in their field or community?
One of the most important things I would share with emerging professionals is the value of committing to continuous learning and intentionally building meaningful relationships.
No matter how experienced or accomplished you become, there is always more to learn. Industries evolve, best practices shift, and new challenges emerge. Staying curious—through professional development, mentorship, reading, conferences, and simply asking thoughtful questions—keeps you adaptable and relevant. Continuous learning not only strengthens your expertise, but it also builds confidence and credibility over time.
Equally important is developing authentic relationships. Impact rarely happens in isolation. The connections you build with colleagues, mentors, community partners, and those you serve will shape your growth and expand your influence. Invest in people. Listen well. Follow through. Offer help before asking for it. Strong professional relationships create collaboration, open doors to opportunity, and often become the foundation for long-term success.
Outside of work, what activities, interests, or passions keep you inspired and grounded?
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me on the golf course or spending intentional time with loved ones. Golf is both a mental reset and a personal challenge that keeps me inspired to continue learning and growing while being surrounded by my partner keeps me grounded, grateful, and energized.
