
Dr. Farah Zolghadr is a Springfield Illinois native and is thrilled to be part of the UIS community as Instructor of Flute. Currently, she is principal flute of the Jacksonville (IL) Symphony, and she performs with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra and the Quincy Symphony Orchestra.
Farah received a D.M.A. in flute performance from the University of Miami, where she studied with former Metropolitan Opera Principal Flute, Trudy Kane. At the University of Miami, Farah was a Henry Mancini Fellow, and she shared the stage with world-class artists including Dave Grusin, Jon Secada, Patti Austin, Gloria Gaynor, and the Beach Boys featuring Jon Stamos. While in Miami, she performed with the Miami Symphony Orchestra as guest principal flute and with the Florida Grand Opera as Second Flute/Piccolo.
At the University of Nevada - Las Vegas, Farah was a Teaching Assistant under the direction of Dr. Jennifer Grim. As winner of the UNLV Concerto Competition, she performed the Liebermann Piccolo Concerto. Farah was named Outstanding Graduate Student for the College of Fine Arts.
Farah is an active member of the National Flute Association, where she serves on the Research Committee.
