The Illinois Springfield women's soccer team (3-1, 1-0 GLVC) will play its first GLVC road match of the season when it travels to Drury on Wednesday, Sept. 9. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m., following a time adjustment due to high temperatures.

UIS is off to its best start since 2021, when the Prairie Stars opened the season 3-0-1. The team enters Wednesday's match after a 5-1 victory over Lincoln in its GLVC opener, improving to nine goals on the season with eight different players finding the back of the net.

The Prairie Stars scored four goals through their first three matches before breaking out offensively against Lincoln. UIS controlled both ends of the field throughout the conference opener, which also served as Senior Day. Senior midfielder Rachel Riney highlighted the win with a goal.

UIS is averaging 2.25 goals per game while allowing one goal per contest. Drury enters the match with a 0-2-2 overall record and a 0-0-1 mark in GLVC play. The Panthers opened the season with losses to Central Missouri and No. 23 Washburn before earning a 1-1 draw at Truman State in their conference opener.

Carly Swan and Melissa Higgins have each scored once and recorded shots on goal for Drury, accounting for the Panthers' two goals this season. Goalkeeper Katy Fitzler has started all four matches between the posts, facing 40 shots and making 11 saves while allowing six goals for a 1.50 goals-against average.

UIS has defeated Drury just three times in program history.
