UIS men's tennis student-athlete Pablo Herrera has been named one of two recipients of the 2026 Great Lakes Valley Conference Postgraduate Scholarship, the league office announced on Tuesday. Herrera shares the honor with Rockhurst women's soccer student-athlete Anna Lantz, with each award providing $2,500 toward graduate studies at the institution of their choice.

A four-year member of the UIS men's tennis program, Herrera closes his Prairie Stars career as a three-time All-GLVC selection (2024, 2025, 2026) and one of the most accomplished players in program history. In 2026, he anchored the lineup at No. 1 singles and doubles, finishing with a 15-7 singles record while serving as team captain.

Herrera will continue his academic career at Loyola University in Seville, Spain, closer to his home of Jerez de la Frontera. He has been accepted into a master's program in artificial intelligence. A double major in computer science and mathematical sciences, he graduates from UIS with a 3.94 GPA and extensive academic recognition, including multiple Academic All-GLVC honors and repeated Dean's List distinction. He was also named UIS Male Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2026.

UIS is proud of Herrera's accomplishments on and off the court and congratulates him on earning this prestigious honor.
