Pablo Herrera put together an outstanding April to earn UIS Jimmy John's Athlete of the Month honors. He becomes the first UIS tennis player to receive the award in its three-year history.

Competing at No. 1 singles, Herrera went 5-2 on the month to close the season with an impressive 14-4 overall record. His performance included a ranked win over the No. 15 player in the nation, highlighting his ability to compete at the highest level.

In doubles play, Herrera posted a 4-3 record in April and finished the season 10-8 at No. 1 doubles. His consistent success earned him First Team All-Conference for the third year.

He was also recently named the department's Male Senior Scholar Student-Athlete, and Iron Star—highlighting a standout career both in competition and in the classroom. Both honors are among the top awards presented at the department's annual athletics banquet.

Herrera is also one of 16 finalists for UIS Male Athlete of the Year, an award that will be decided at the conclusion of the academic year.

The Jimmy John's Athlete of the Month award is presented in partnership with Jimmy John's in Springfield, reflecting a shared commitment between Jimmy John's and UIS Athletics to celebrate excellence across all Prairie Stars programs.
