The Illinois Springfield women's golf team begins its spring season this week at the Emerald Coast Collegiate, hosted by Missouri-St. Louis, from March 8-10 in Destin. The tournament will be played at
Sandestin Golf Course.
The event features a large NCAA Division II field of 17 teams, including Central Oklahoma, Central Missouri, and West Texas A&M. Teams will play three rounds across three days along Florida's Emerald Coast.
The Prairie Stars will send all six golfers to compete in the spring opener. Elaine Grant leads the lineup and enters the tournament ranked No. 175 nationally. She will be joined by Lia Rody, Valentina Torrealba, Yi-Ting Hsieh, and Fizreen Ahmadfadzir in the team scoring lineup. Ira Joshi will also compete as an individual for UIS.
The Emerald Coast Collegiate marks the first tournament of the spring schedule for UIS, giving the Prairie Stars an early opportunity to test themselves against a deep Division II field. The three-day event will provide a strong benchmark as the team begins the second half of its season and builds toward the conference championship later this spring.
