The Prairie Stars have built a strong resume with a 25-10 in-region record and key wins over GLVC opponents, keeping them firmly in the postseason picture. UIS also added a non-conference midweek matchup with Davenport—another regionally ranked opponent—scheduled for Tuesday, April 29.
UIS last reached the NCAA postseason in 2023, when the program served as a regional host. That year, the Prairie Stars fell in an 11-10 heartbreaker to UIndy, bounced back with a 10-2 win over Ashland, and then dropped another close contest to Maryville to bow out of the tournament.
The NCAA Midwest Regional is split into two double-elimination brackets hosted at separate sites. The winners of those brackets advance to a Super Regional matchup to determine who moves on to the NCAA Division II Championship, scheduled for May 30–June 7 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.
Selections for the NCAA Tournament will be announced on the evening of Sunday, May 11 on NCAA.com.
