What do you like about your job?

I love the opportunity to connect with students every day. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is the highly collaborative nature of Student Affairs—not only within our division but across the entire campus. Students experience college holistically, encountering moments of great success, challenges and everything in between. We have the privilege of helping them navigate campus resources, leveraging relationships to make meaningful referrals and advocating for them in spaces where their voices may not always be present.

I also enjoy working with our student engagement teams to curate experiences that shape students’ college memories. From leadership opportunities and student organizations to campus traditions and friendships, these moments become some of the most defining aspects of their college years. While their academic journey is essential for career success, the opportunities they have to apply their learning outside the classroom are just as transformative.

What’s the most rewarding project you have worked on?

One of the most fulfilling projects I’ve worked on is homecoming. As a campus- and community-wide initiative, it brings together students, alumni, faculty, staff and supporters to celebrate our shared pride. I’ve particularly enjoyed the planning process, seeing campus engagement in action and celebrating the success of our crowdfunding campaign this past year. The excitement and energy surrounding homecoming makes it a highlight of the year!

Who’s someone you admire?

Beyoncé. Her ambition, talent and presence are truly unmatched. She has mastered her craft so well that her name has become synonymous with excellence—many aspire to be the “Beyoncé” of their own industries.

Beyond her artistry, Beyoncé uses her platform to inspire and spark important conversations about systemic issues in society. She is not just an entertainer; she is a thought-provoking icon, artist and humanitarian. I admire her ability to continuously evolve, push boundaries and set new standards. She serves as a source of inspiration for me in both my professional and personal life.

What’s something important you’ve learned from your family?

My family has instilled in me the values of hard work, resilience and gratitude. They’ve taught me to take pride in who I am and where I come from, to be a possibility model for future generations and to always stay grounded. I’ve learned that the journey is far more meaningful when shared with others and that success is not just about individual achievement but about uplifting those around you. Above all, I carry with me the belief that with dedication and perseverance, anything is possible.

Do most consider you a morning bird or a night owl?

I am definitely a morning person. My best work happens in the early hours, and I’m usually up before 5 a.m. to start my day with a workout. The quiet, distraction-free time allows me to ease into the day and stay ahead of deadlines without feeling rushed.

While I start strong in the mornings, I do experience that infamous post-lunch productivity slump. Because of that, I try to dedicate my mornings to deep work, projects, brainstorming sessions and collaboration whenever possible.
