How did you get started in your career field?
My journey into higher education began during my undergraduate years at Kentucky State University, where I was deeply engaged on campus. I started a book club, joined several student organizations — including Presidential Protégés and the Student Government Association — and became an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
I also worked as a tutor-mentor for Upward Bound and participated in TRiO Student Support Services as a first-generation college student. These experiences allowed me to connect with dedicated staff and faculty who were passionate about supporting students academically and personally. Many became mentors, offering guidance that shaped my path. Their investment in me inspired my pursuit of a career in higher education, leading to a position at my alma mater after graduation.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy volunteering in the community, exploring natural hair care and attending events to expand my knowledge. I'm also learning how to crochet, spending quality time with my partner and our fur babies, and having meaningful conversations with my sisters. Above all, I prioritize nurturing my spiritual growth and deepening my relationship with God.
What's your favorite season of the year and why?
My favorite season is definitely summer. I love the warm weather, longer days filled with sunshine, and the vibrant greenery in full bloom. Summer energizes me and lifts my spirits. Plus, my birthday is in July, which makes it even more special. I’m more active and less tired in the summer months, which adds to the enjoyment.
