University of Illinois Springfield is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

UIS is pursuing accreditation through the Open Pathway, a ten-year cycle that focuses on assurance of quality and continuous improvement.

DSC00024_1Faculty teaching Global Awareness courses at UIS participated in an all-day retreat on December 5, which featured discussions about student learning and the accreditation team’s Quality Initiative Project. The Collaborative Research Faculty (pictured above) gave a brief overview of the project and introduced the rubric they created to assess student learning in Global Awareness courses.

Tiffani Saunders, Suzanne Borland, Karen Moranski, and Kay McChesney attended the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference on October 11 in St. Louis and presented “Assessing Global Learning in an Engaged Citizenship.”
