Developing Self-Directed Learners: Exploring Self-Directed Learning Dynamics in Accounting

Ahmad Jumah, Professor of Accounting, will discuss the strategies he employs to develop his students into self-directed learners—those who can plan, monitor, and adjust their learning processes on their own. These include:

  • Structured assignments, project flowcharts, and work plans;
  • Self-assessment tools, such as rubrics, peer reviews, and exam wrappers;
  • Continuous learning practices, such as iterative feedback and Qualitative Incident Questionnaires.

Professor Jumah’s talk is the second in our series led by graduates of the Association of College and University Educator’s Effective Teaching Practices Course.
