During this interactive session, Dr. Sajjad will share his Fulbright experience as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, including:
- Working with local communities on STEM education through the Tiny Earth program, mentoring undergraduate students in antibiotic discovery, and contributing to the “productive failure” teaching model;
- Becoming a registered Tiny Earth instructor to train new researchers in responsible antimicrobial discovery;
- Exploring translation and entrepreneurship through the UW D2P I2M Lean Launchpad program to build Microbial Hub;
- Participating in national and international policy-facing work, including the Next Generation Leadership (NGL 50) cohort at Asilomar, and serving on biosecurity/jury work with NTI; and
- Personal journey from a lower-middle-income background and a small town in Pakistan – being the first in his town to study microbiology – to building a career in biosecurity and global health through Fulbright.
