The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team lost in their regular season finale to Quincy on Saturday morning. The Prairie Stars drop to 26-23 overall with a 17-19 conference record. The Hawks move to 25-25 overall with a 22-14 record in GLVC play. With the loss, the Stars just miss out on the conference tournament.

Game Summary (L, 7-21)

  • Quincy took another lead in the first inning with a 2 RBI double down the left field line

  • UIS responded in the top of the third as Brant Vanaman hit an RBI double 

  • QU took a big lead in the bottom of the third, plating eight runs

  • A 2 RBI single, walk, 2 RBI double, and a three-run home run put the Hawks up 10-1

  • The Prairie Stars responded in the fifth with a six-run inning

  • Johnny Colombo doubled to bring home a run

  • Jackson Blemler then singled to bring Colombo home

  • With the bases loaded, Ivan Dahlberg ripped a double to bring home all three runners

  • Mack Clark singled to bring Dahlberg home, making it a three-run game

  • QU answered in the bottom of the fifth with seven runs of their own to take a commanding lead

  • Two RBI singles, a passed ball, and two home runs gave Quincy a 17-7 lead going into the sixth

  • Quincy added four more runs in the sixth with an RBI single and a three-run home run to make it 21-7 in favor of the Hawks

  • Jacob Goss (2-1) earned the loss on the day
