The Illinois Municipal Policy Journal is a collaboration between Illinois Municipal League (IML) and the College of Public Affairs and Education at the University of Illinois at Springfield. We are honored to serve as the journal’s editorial home since 2020. This collaboration reflects the College’s values and mission in serving local communities through the faculty’s expertise, skills, and experience.
The Journal’s Aims and Scope
The Illinois Municipal Policy Journal is an annual publication that features timely research and public policy analysis relevant to municipal government within Illinois. The journal provides knowledge-based information to state and local policy makers, practitioners, and citizens, equipping them with the information and knowledge needed to understand and make informed decisions in public policy. Emphasis is placed on articles with supported conclusions on laws, rules, management, programs, policies, and ordinances that affect municipal governments. The journal is distributed to members of the Illinois General Assembly, the Illinois Congressional Delegation, Illinois Constitutional Officers, Mayors and City Councils, as well as City Administrators throughout Illinois.
Manuscript Submission
We welcome new manuscript submissions year-round. All topics relevant to municipal government, including but not limited to public finance, public policy, public management, laws, education, and information technology, are accepted by our editors. All manuscripts are double peer-reviewed; the third external reviewer is often required to strengthen the quality of the journal. Please see the guidelines for manuscript submission in the link below. Contact Dr. Arwi Kriz for manuscript submission, reviewing, and the publication process at asrit1@uis.edu.
