Subrecipients Under a Sponsored Agreement
Though UIS may be the prime recipient of an award, there are many cases when it is appropriate to pay collaborating institutions or businesses/individuals for goods, services, and expertise. This outgoing subaward must be proposed following internal processes, and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs must assess if the proposed subrecipient(s) has the capacity to complete the proposed scope of work. These require the collaborating institution to review their portion of the proposal, so build in time to comply with their internal deadlines.
In other instances, another institution will lead and submit a proposal with UIS collaborators. This incoming subaward must be proposed, reviewed, and approved following normal processes. The key differences are the deadline and required documents - the submitting institution becomes the proposed "sponsor" and will dictate the UIS deadline and required documentation, which will be less than an entire proposal, but may include additional requirements from what is listed in the solicitation. Ensure you are building in time for ORSP to review the required documents according to our internal deadlines.
