The Illinois Springfield men's tennis team will close out its conference schedule at home this weekend with matches against Indianapolis and McKendree.
Weekend Schedule & Locations
Due to forecasted rain, Friday's match against No. 17 Indianapolis has been moved indoors and will be played at 2:00 p.m. at the Springfield Racquet and Fitness Center.
On Saturday, UIS will host McKendree at 11:00 a.m. at Chatham Glenwood High School. Senior recognition for three seniors from women's tennis will begin at 9:30 a.m., prior to warmups.
Illinois Springfield (0-10, 0-3 GLVC)
The Prairie Stars are looking to secure their first conference win after a 7-0 loss to Lewis on the road last weekend.
Pablo Herrera leads UIS with a 4-5 singles record, including a 1-2 mark in GLVC play. Lin En Tan follows at 3-7 overall.
In doubles, the pairing of Herrera and Tan holds a 2-1 record in conference competition.
No. 17 Indianapolis (15-3, 3-0 GLVC)
The Greyhounds enter the weekend undefeated in GLVC play, following a 4-0 sweep of UMSL and a 7-0 win over Maryville.
Tadeo Gaggiofatto (15-1) and Asier Prado Allyson (15-2) have been dominant in singles. David Simeonov (11-4) and Matthieu Derache (10-3) add depth to a formidable lineup.
In doubles, Manu Lanteri and Lorenzu Di Cursi lead the way with an 11-4 record.
McKendree (6-15, 1-2 GLVC)
The Bearcats are coming off a split weekend, edging Maryville 4-3 before falling to UMSL by the same score. Earlier this week, they dropped a non-conference match to WashU, 5-2.
Stepan Mach has compiled a team-best 16-7 singles record, while Seb Holden sits at 8-8 on the season.
