UIS softball is at home this week in GLVC play against Maryville and McKendree. Maryville visits on Sunday for a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader. The Prairie Stars' doubleheader against McKendree, originally scheduled for Saturday, will now be played on Monday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m.

Illinois Springfield (22-13, 10-6 GLVC)
The Prairie Stars have plenty to celebrate heading into the weekend. Head coach Shannon Guthrie recently earned her 300th career win, while Rosie Bartletti was named Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week and Taylor Zawacki took home GLVC Player of the Week honors.

UIS showed grit in a sweep of Missouri-St. Louis, holding on to win 3-2 in game one before storming back from a 4-0 deficit to win 6-4 in extras in game two, thanks in large part to Zawacki's weekend heroics, which included seven extra-base hits.

On Sunday at Lincoln, UIS went full throttle in game one behind Bartletti's perfect game and Zawacki's 3-for-4 performance that featured a double, triple, and home run. Lincoln edged UIS 1-0 in extra innings in game two, but the Stars still wrapped up a 3-1 weekend in GLVC play.

Ella Brinkley leads UIS with a .418 batting average, 38 hits, and a team-high three home runs. Zawacki is right behind her with a 37 hits, a .366 average, and a team-best 11 doubles. The Prairie Stars have been aggressive on the basepaths this season, with Brinkley (28-28), Bartletti (23-25), and Malia Bender (17-19) leading the way.

In the circle, Bartletti leads the staff with a 12-5 record, 2.91 ERA, and 122 strikeouts in 101.0 innings. Zawacki has thrown 52.2 innings, notching 64 strikeouts with a 3.46 ERA and 3-5 record, with several losses coming in close games. Addyson McClure also brings solid depth to the rotation with a 5-2 record, 3.46 ERA, and 27 strikeouts over 52.2 innings.

Maryville (15-22, 7-7 GLVC)
The Saints sit at .500 in GLVC play after picking up two wins at Lincoln and splitting with No. 22 McKendree.

Offensively, Jenna Kosnoff leads the Saints with a .320 average, and Emily Corona is just behind her at .317. Both players have tallied 32 hits this season.

In the circle, Cora Boyle has carried much of the load, pitching 103.2 of the team's 232 innings while maintaining a 3.98 ERA and an 8-6 record. Chayse Ramey has been another key arm, posting a 3.22 ERA with a 5-6 record over 63.0 innings.

No. 21 McKendree (26-13, 12-4 GLVC)
The Bearcats opened their weekend with a split against Maryville and then rolled past UMSL 4-1 and 15-2, tallying 16 hits with 11 different players recording at least one.

Sami Huck, the reigning GLVC Pitcher of the Week, leads the rotation with an 11-6 record, 2.33 ERA, and 160 strikeouts in 117.1 innings. Ellie Vetter has also been strong with a 12-3 record, 2.82 ERA, and 81 strikeouts.

At the plate, Lauren Harris — recently named to the NFCA Division II Player of the Year Watchlist alongside UIS' Ella Brinkley — is batting .440 with a .696 slugging percentage, 40 RBI, and 55 hits. Laynee Tapp (.372) and Huck (.364) have also had standout seasons offensively.
