The UIS women's track and field team is set to compete at the Jim Vargo Invite in Louisville this weekend, with the action beginning at 4:15 p.m. Central on Friday and continuing at 11:00 a.m. Central on Saturday.

On Friday evening, Emma Leahy and Marissa Roggensack will race in the 1500 meters, followed by Lillian Buzani, Josslyn Gaona, Kaleigh Inniss, and Jordan Serrahn in the 5,000 meters.
Saturday's competition kicks off with Norah Wright making her collegiate steeplechase debut. Lillian Buzani and Maggie Von Hatten will race in the 1500-meter heats. Allison Thompson will run the 10,000 meters for the second time in two weeks, and Kali Gaden and Camille Terre will close out the meet with the 800-meter run.
GLVC Standings
Josslyn Gaona is ranked inside the GLVC's top 10 in the 5,000 meters with her season-opening time of 18:31.28. Three other Prairie Stars are in the top 15 in the event. In the 10,000 meters, UIS has four athletes in the top 10, including Madelyn Miller at No. 2 with an NCAA provisional qualifying time and school record of 34:29.52.
Lillian Buzani and Marissa Roggensack are ranked 19th and 24th, respectively, on the GLVC's 1500-meter performance list.
This season, the conference championship field has been expanded to 24 athletes per event, up from 18, based on the season's performance list. Athletes will have the entire regular season to qualify for a spot in the conference meet by earning a top-24 position in their respective events.
