The UIS women's golf team played two rounds on Monday at the UIndy Fall Invitational, hosted at Champions Pointe Golf Club. The Prairie Stars sit in ninth place with one round left to play.
UIS carded a team score of 307 in the morning round and followed with a 310 in the afternoon, finishing the day at 617 (+41). Missouri-St. Louis leads the 12-team field with a score of 574 (-2).
Sophomore Lia Rody paced the Prairie Stars with back-to-back rounds of 71, finishing the day tied for fourth individually at even-par 144. Senior Elaine Grant, one of the team's veteran returners, is tied for 28th after rounds of 78 and 75 (153).
Three newcomers made their UIS debuts on Monday. Sophomore transfer Valentina Torrealba posted rounds of 83 and 75 to stand tied for 43rd (158). Freshman Yi-Ting Hsieh recorded scores of 75 and 87, putting her in a tie for 48th (162). Freshman Fizreen Ahmadfadzir rounded out the lineup in 64th with rounds of 95 and 90 (185).
The final round of the invitational is scheduled for Tuesday.
