The Illinois Springfield women's track & field team is set to compete at the Cougar Classic, hosted by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, on Saturday in Edwardsville, Ill.
Entries
The meet offers Prairie Star student-athletes a key opportunity to compete following last Saturday's cancellation of the Jim Vargo Invitational at Bellarmine. Freshman Norah Wright will make her collegiate debut in the 3,000-meter steeplechase early in the afternoon, while Kali Gaden and Camille Terre are slated to race in the 800-meter later in the meet.
GLVC Performance List Outlook
Wright and Terre will look to add their names to the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) performance list in the 800 meters. Josslyn Gaona is currently the only UIS runner ranked in the event, sitting in 25th place.
Three Prairie Stars—Marissa Roggensack, Norah Wright, and Lillian Buzani—are ranked within the GLVC's top 24 in the 1,500-meter run. In the 5,000 meters, UIS boasts seven runners among the top 24, including top-10 performers Kaleigh Inniss, Jordan Serrahn, Josslyn Gaona, and Lillian Buzani.
UIS also remains well represented in the 10,000-meter rankings, with four of the 10 athletes who have competed in the event this season.
