The UIS men's golf team is set to compete in the SVSU Spring Invitational this weekend at Kearney Hills Golf Course in Lexington, Ky. The two-day tournament begins on Saturday, March 15.
The SVSU Spring Invitational will feature 18 teams, including GLVC opponents Drury and Lewis, along with other regional competition. The tournament consists of two rounds, one per day, played at Kearney Hills Golf Course, a par-72 championship course known for its challenging layout and fast greens. The Prairie Stars are approaching the midpoint of the spring regular season, as they continue to evaluate their lineup and build momentum for the remainder of the year.
Last Time Out
The Prairie Stars last competed at the Las Vegas Desert Classic two weeks ago, finishing 20th in a challenging field. Sacha Lamraski led the team, shooting eight-over par and capping off the tournament with a strong final round of 73. Julien Babineau and Daniel Edwards both finished at 17-over, with Babineau leading the team in birdies (10) and Edwards delivering consistent play across all three rounds. Jake Baldin and Francesco Abba Jr. rounded out the lineup, posting scores of 18-over and 19-over, respectively, with Baldin recording a team-high 33 pars. As a team, UIS totaled 33 birdies and 143 pars, averaging 3.50 strokes on par-3 holes, 4.31 on par-4s, and 5.03 on par-5s.
