A select group of UIS women's distance runners will compete this week at the Bryan Clay Invitational, one of the nation's premier collegiate meets, hosted by Azusa Pacific.
Entries
The Prairie Stars will send three athletes to compete in the 10,000 and 5,000-meter events, aiming to make the most of the meet's fast fields.
Kaleigh Inniss and Jordan Serrahn will open the meet for UIS on Wednesday morning in the 10,000 meters. Both runners will look to improve upon their season bests and push for personal records in one of the most stacked distance events on the calendar.
Madelyn Miller will compete in the 5,000 meters on Thursday, with heat times to be determined based on seeding. Miller, an indoor All-American who broke the UIS 10k record in her outdoor season debut, will be racing the 5k for the first time this outdoor season.
Performance Lists
Inniss ranks No. 6 in the GLVC in both the 5K and 10K, with a 10K season best of 37:00. Serrahn follows at No. 7 in both events, having clocked a 37:58 in the 10K. Both times were set at WashU earlier this season. The NCAA Division II provisional standard in the event is 36:12.34.
Miller has already hit the provisional mark in the 10K with a time of 34:29.52, currently ranking No. 2 in the GLVC and No. 8 nationally. She has remained in the national top-10 for more than two weeks.
Among GLVC runners, only Hannah Smrcka of Lewis (No. 3 nationally) and Naylah Allen (No. 15) join Miller in the current top-25 DII list.
